Business Suffers in Myitkyina ( Kachin State / Burma ).

Hello .

To all friends ,

This is my birth place of my former hometown , Myitkyina ( Kachin State / Burma ) ; where I have lived for 29 years until , I left the country in February , 12th. 1979 ----to the newly adopted country : The United States of America . Throughout the years since from the time that , I left from Myitkyina to the current residence in the City of Rosemead ; the former town ( Myitkyina ) has dramatically changed and have numerous newly constructed residences , hotels , new supermarkets , and with the improvement to the city ; it also bring up the population growth from a small town of from the one hundred thousand to more than 3 to 4 times the population they have it way back in the early 60s .
It is sad to see , the People's Republic of China and the Burmese Military Junta , have signed into agreement to have economic joint ventures for more than a dozen of the projects to be carry out in a few years from now on . With the agreement , the Chinese will construct a dam at the beginning of the Irrawaddy River : where as the Malikha & Maykha joined together and in the surrounding area they will be building the dam for the Chinese to export electricity back to Yunnan Province in China . The Local Kachin Ethnic People have pleaded with the Chinese President and as with the Burmese Military Junta also , not to build the dam for the sake of the natural disasters stemming from in the event of the dam break away and with the forces from the water it will flood the whole town all the way to the downstream area where the Irrawaddy River ends at the Delta Area . The imminent dangers stemming from the event if the dam break away ; the loss of so many innocent lives , properties , the livelihood of the local Kachin Ethnic People ; with the more than 60 villages and the population of a little more than 20,000 will be effected by the forced relocation to other areas by the Military Authorities . The Ethnic Kachin People have been living in and around the river of so many centuries and they are heavily depending on the plantation , fisheries , and other forest products for their livelihood will be changed to an extent that ; they cannot be able to cope with the new job to be on training and learn how to make a living from day one of their relocation to the designated areas .
Let us all pray for them & their lives will have a better outcome in the near future . I am urging all the environmentalist and the Greenpeace Organizations to strongly protest the Chinese Government and the Burmese Military Junta for forcing the local Kachin Ethnic People to relocate from their homes from the Irrawaddy River Areas to the designated areas . THE VOICES OF THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE SHOULD NEVER BE SILENCED AS A RESULT OF THE , PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA AND THE BURMESE MILITARY JUNTA .
